support that fits you and your needs.
At the heart of my practice is mutual respect, genuine acceptance, and creating a space where your authentic self is always welcome. It’s important that you feel safe, accepted, and free of judgment as we work together.
In our sessions, I take a client-centered approach, personalizing methods based on what you need in the moment. This means the way we work together will adjust to meet your unique challenges and resonate with what feels most helpful for you. I draw from a variety of therapeutic methods to create an individualized plan that empowers you to heal, grow, and thrive.
Think of the different therapeutic approaches I use as colors in a painting, instruments in a symphony, or ingredients in a recipe. Each one highlights an important piece, draws out a key concept, or brings everything together in a way that best supports your journey. These approaches contribute to the bigger picture, allowing us to customize our work to meet your needs. By using a variety of methods, we can address challenges from different angles, helping create meaningful change and impactful healing.
Below are descriptions of some approaches we might implement.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand how your thoughts impact your feelings and actions, especially during life transitions, grief, loss, or anxiety. It's easy to get stuck in negative thinking patterns, like believing 'I can’t do this,' 'Everyone does life better than me,' or 'I’ll never change.' These thoughts can feel automatic, making life’s challenges seem even harder.
In therapy, we’ll work together to identify these unhelpful thoughts and reframe them, helping you shift to a healthier, more realistic perspective. CBT also teaches practical skills, like stress management and problem-solving, to support you through the difficulties you're facing. Together, we'll set achievable goals and practice new ways of responding, helping you feel more in control and capable.
It also builds your confidence by addressing negative beliefs about yourself and encouraging you to recognize your strengths. CBT is a powerful tool for navigating life transitions, grief, loss, and anxiety, helping you build resilience and move forward with clarity and empowerment.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
In Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), we focus on solutions, what’s working well, and what you want to achieve, rather than dwelling on past problems. It’s all about identifying your strengths, past successes, and previous solutions that have worked for you. Together, we’ll tap into the resources you already have to move forward.
We’ll work together to set clear, achievable goals and take small, meaningful steps toward them. SFBT is especially helpful during life transitions, grief, or anxiety, as it helps shift your focus from obstacles to potential solutions. This approach is collaborative and together we’ll identify what’s most important to you and create a path toward positive change, empowering you every step of the way.
Somatic Experience
Somatic Experience helps you process tough emotions and experiences by paying attention to your body’s sensations and reactions. Instead of just talking about your feelings, you’ll learn to notice how your body responds when reminded of difficult times. For example, you might feel tension in your shoulders, tightness in your chest, or a knot in your stomach when you’re feeling anxious, uncertain, or dealing with grief.
In therapy, we’ll work together to help you recognize and release the tension you might not even realize you’re holding. Techniques like deep breathing, gentle movement, and body awareness exercises will help you regulate your nervous system and release that tension, allowing your body to heal. You’ll start to understand how physical sensations are connected to your emotions, which can help make sense of how your body reacts when you feel overwhelmed. Over time, this process can help build emotional resilience and promote lasting healing.
Strength-Based Therapy
Strength-Based Therapy focuses on identifying and building on your existing strengths to help you overcome challenges, because you are not the sum of your struggles. Together, we’ll tap into your strengths, values, and past experiences to help you move toward the life you want. We’ll uncover your unique abilities and skills, so you can approach challenges with confidence and a sense of control. By shifting the focus to what’s strong within you, Strength-Based Therapy fosters a sense of hope and motivation for lasting change. It’s a supportive and empowering way to create positive outcomes based on your personal strengths.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Therapy is all about helping you stay grounded and fully present in the moment. It’s a way to connect with the here and now, rather than getting caught up in worries about the past or future. In therapy, we’ll use techniques like deep breathing and body scanning to help you tune into your body and calm your mind. These practices can help you manage stress, anxiety, and the emotional impact of life transitions or grief by keeping you centered. By learning to focus on your breath and bodily sensations, you’ll be able to build a sense of stability and calm, even when facing difficult emotions. This approach empowers you to cultivate inner peace and resilience, helping you stay grounded no matter what life brings.
